CITY OF NORTH CHARLESTON
By applying for and obtaining this permit, the property owner does hereby covenant and agree:
- That the hosting of events, such as weddings, parties, or similar gatherings, is prohibited.
- That on street parking associated with the STR is prohibited
- To comply with the ordinances of the City of North Charleston;
- To submit any deviation from the documentation provided for this permit to the City for re-review and approval;
- That the information given and the statements made on the application, drawings, and specifications are, to the best of his/her knowledge, true and correct.
- The identified local emergency contact is required to respond within 30 minutes of receiving a phone call/voice message/text message regarding dangerous or disruptive conditions at the STR. Failure to respond can result in a violation.
- The maximum occupancy of an STR is two persons per bedroom, no more than 8 persons(icluding children), and this maximum must be reflected in all online advertising for the STR.
- Only one STR is permitted per parcel
- A minimum of one parking space is provided for each two bedrooms rented, in addition to any other parking required for the property, with a maximum of 4 parking spaces total.
- Other than a wall or window decal (or similar) not to exceed one square foot, no exterior signage advertising the STR may be posted at the subject property.
- The owner is responsible for the payment of all State, County, and City taxes, including sales tax, local-option sales tax, accommodations taxes, and any other taxes.
- The owner must obtain a new STR permit annually, on or before February 28th of each year.
- The owner must renew his/her business license each year, on or before May 30th of each year.
It is understood and agreed by the applicant that the Planning and ZoningDepartment may revode this permit if it is determined that:
- The application, drawings, and/or specifications contain an error, misstatement or misrepresentation of fact – either with or without intent on the applicant’s part – such as might have, if known, caused a denial of the STR permit.
- There has been a change in plans subsequent to the issuance of this STR permit made without approval of the City and/or
- There have been repeated noise violations, occupancy violations, police calls for service, excessive or illegal parking, trash violations, or other such nuisances.
